Maine Standard Poodles has been raising AKC Standard Poodle puppies since 1990. These puppies are kitchen-raised, the noisiest room in the home. I have one litter a year, looking for that special dog I can put in the show ring. Parents are tested for Sebaceous Adenitis, hips, von Willebrand's disease, PRA (progressive retinal atrophy) and their thyroid is checked. The pups are sold with an AKC limited registration with a spay/neuter clause.

4 Weeks Old Today
We set up the kitchen floor for the pups last night and they spent their first night on it. They are getting around great and are spoiled already with all the room. Now the physical work begins. Below are today's videos. I'm sure to have more by Sunday. Thank you for following our journey.

Two Weeks Old Today
Time has just flown by. The pups eyes are open and they're able to wobbly walk on all fours. Check out the Wobbly Walk video. We just had a visit with the sire and one of the sire's owners Dan Paul. We took losts of still pics which you'll be able to view by clicking on the "flicker link" in a day or so. I will post again when they're ready to be viewed. Thank you for following our journey.

Puppy Update 9 days old
Hello,
The pups and Jewel are doing wonderful. Their eyes should be open within the week. They are getting pretty big, they range in size from 15.3 oz to 26.6 oz. The gap in size should shorten as time goes by. I am handling them everyday per book "How To Raise A Puppy You Can Live With". A video will follow within the next 24 hours.

Puppy Update
Hello Everyone,
We had the tails docked Saturday, by Dr Charles Ellithorp at the Bath Brunswick Veterinary Associates. Dr Ellithorp knew how important it was for these pups to get their tails done within a 3 day time limit. and.......he fit me in on a short notice on a busy Saturday. Thank you for a job WELL done. I had scheduled the procedure for Monday thinking the delivery was Friday, at another hospital and they were unable to fit me in on Saturday.

Puppies Have Arrived
The puppies arrived a day early, Thursday. 11 puppies indeed. All are doing pretty good. Due to the size of this litter I am working extremely hard making sure the small ones keep up with the big ones. We have 7 black females, 1 white female, 2 cream females and 1 male apricot. Yes I know this is disappointing news for my male puppy buyers. 10 girls and 1 boy litter will probably go down in history, in every ones poodle circle. So please check in often and follow the pups journey for the next 8 to 9 weeks. Until next time "think female" .

5 Days to Go Before Delivery
Hello again. Jewel had a low dose x ray last Thursday, July 17th, to check on the number of pups she'll be delivering and it was an astonishing 11. As she delivers each one we towel dry them, check the sex and weigh them. Then we assign he or she a colored Rick Rack collar. That color collars stays with that particular pup until it leaves for their new home...I'm hoping there's enough Rick Rack colors for as many pups she's going to have :-)
Obviously with this many pups and 7 nipples I'll be weighing the pups daily and shifting pups around on her. It's easy for a pup to loose ground with this size litter so I won't be leaving her side for awhile. Look for another update and video by Sunday the 27th.
